The Salvation Army starts accepting application in October for the annual Angel Tree program

The Salvation Army starts accepting application in October for the annual Angel Tree program, as the local charity gets ready to step its operations up for the holiday season. The Angel Tree is designed to assist families with toys, clothes and or gift cards to the less unfortunate.

In today’s economy people are losing their jobs, when they struggle to put food on the table, they certainly can’t provide gifts for their children on Christmas day. We here at the Salvation Army work hard to assist these families in need and need the help of individuals in our local community.

Those applying for the Christmas Assistance Program must bring identification for everyone living in the home and proof of income and expenses.

The program usually helps around 2,500 families every year and around 6000 children receive gifts for Christmas. Every year the numbers change and every year we need good hearted people to adopt and Angel and bring joy to a child in need on Christmas day. Every year we see a higher demand because of the economy and unemployment.

Many Angel Trees are placed inside malls but if you can’t get to the mall to adopt an Angel simply go to http://angeltreesanantonio.org/ and select you Angel and bring happiness to underprivileged child.
